The Rhenus-Starnus partnership brings together deep skills in logistics and technology, product ideation, technology development and deployment to help support the logistics operation through successful transformations.
The benefits of a bespoke AMR offer a quick adaptability to peak season, without the need for extra robots and can be easily deployed for new customers. The modular solution of the robot provides flexibility and easier repairs, replacement and reuse of components and debugging which meets the requirements for sustainable solutions.
The unique hardware and software developed by Starnus allows the AMR to be fully customized and adaptive in three main features, payload capacity, size, and type of cargo (e.g. pallet, single parcels, etc.). The robots are designed in a way that the change in features can be smooth, fast, and in a plug-and-play manner. The software recognizes the conducted changes, and all software aspects are reconfigured automatically. Thus, the entire adaptation process is smoothly carried out with minimal impact on the flow of operations.
The partnership will consist of different phases including design & build, prototype testing and a pilot phase whereby the robots will be taken into operation at the Rhenus Tilburg location.
