The purpose of the RHEGREEN tool is to estimate the amount of greenhouse gas emissions considering the cargo loads during a specific flight, defined by the departure airport and the arrival airport.
RHEGREEN is a tool that allows clients to estimate the greenhouse gas emissions (in terms of CO2 equivalent, CO2e) of the airfreight with regard to routings and carriers before the shipment booking.
The RHEGREEN tool estimates fuel usage per kg of freight per flight, which is converted into CO2e emissions. The estimated calculation is based on the technical specifications of the aircraft and operational data (e.g. flight distance, routing, aircraft type and weight).
The RHEGREEN tool calculates the estimated CO2e emissions based on capacity-based allocation, which assigns proportional emissions to passengers and belly cargo.
In the event that a RHEGREEN option shipment is unexpectedly offloaded by the airline, the shipment will be rebooked on the next available flight unless the ordering party provides other instructions (in writing).
The Rhenus Group and/or RHEGREEN cannot be held liable for the last-minute aircraft changes decided by the airline. These changes might consequently influence the CO₂e emissions profile of the cargo.
RHEGREEN methodology is in compliance with industry-approved calculation methodologies such as the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework and IATA RP1678, and is in alignment with the EcoTransIT World Initiative for aircraft emission data.
RHEGREEN is a trade name of the service of the Rhenus Group.
