One of the biggest advantages of freight transportation by air is a short transit time. In the Europe we deliver freight within 2-3 working days, from the Far East – within 5-7 working days and in the U.S. – within 7-9 working days. We can ship your cargo to / from any destination around the world, as long as airline services are provided at the location.
If there is no possibility to deliver goods by air directly to the consignee, we offer a perfect solution withtin the Europe: air transport combined with road transport. After reaching one of the major European airports (in Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Helsinki), the freight is delivered by road transport to Vilnius airport. Then, the freight is directed to one of two terminals, and loaded and shipped to its destination.
Freight transportation by air differs from the standard sea or road shipment. In case of air transport, freight dimensions become essentially important. Airlines apply restrictions on height: it is limited to 1.5-2.0 meters. The optimum height of the package is up to 1.0-1.1 meters. With air transportation it must be taken into account, that, regardless of weight, the service price rises as height of the freight rises. One cubic meter of load equals to 167 kilograms.
Air freight also falls under more strict security requirements: X-ray inspection, and in specific cases freight can be disassemled and unpacked for more thorough inspection. Air freight is also subjected to stronger restrictions on dangerous goods, liquids or products, which produce a magnetic field. Such goods need specifications and descriptive documentation. These documentsservce as the basis for airlines to allow or forbid the transportation of such goods. If air transportation is not possible, Rhenus Logistics will offer another solution and your goods will be transported after placing a special order.
