CSR consistency: Rhenus ranks highly in the EcoVadis sustainability ratings for the logistics sector

EcoVadis, a globally recognised and independent provider of sustainability ratings for companies, has once again awarded the Rhenus Group gold status in its CSR rankings for 2023 (Corporate Social Responsibility). Rhenus scored high marks in the environment, employment and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement assessment categories. With a score of 73 out of 100 points in its overall rating, the international logistics specialist captured one of the leading positions and ranks among the top percent in the logistics sector’s service providers that were assessed.

EcoVadis awarded the Rhenus Group 80 points in the environment category, 60 points for its ethics, 70 points for its employment and human rights and 80 points for its sustainable procurement operations – all reflecting the Group’s sustainability endeavours. Some of the measures adopted by Rhenus had a particularly important impact on the latest assessment conducted by EcoVadis. They included the Group-wide policy of sustainable procurement in logistics and having gained important energy and environment management certificates, among other things. They clearly demonstrate the commitment made by Rhenus to actively introduce environmentally-friendly measures at different business sites around the globe. The participation of the Rhenus Group in the United Nations Global Compact was an additional factor: the worldwide pact between companies and the United Nations is designed to make globalisation more ecological and more social. On top of this, the international logistics specialist publishes reports about its environment data and reduction strategies to the Carbon Disclosure Project every year. The non-profit organisation collects corporate data on climate-related topics from more than 23,000 companies worldwide.

“The gold award from EcoVadis shows that we’re already pursuing the right path in our CSR endeavours. Our employees are making a crucial contribution here. We want to continually expand our sustainability strategy to an even greater degree within the entire Rhenus Group in future,” says Jacek Dudkiewicz, Chief Sustainability Officer of the Rhenus Group.

EcoVadis is an independent CSR rating agency and its assessment technology is founded on 200 sector examples, 21 CSR indicators and 175 country analyses. Its methodology is based on international CSR standards such as ISO 26000, the Global Reporting Initiative and the United Nations Global Compact. It has so far assessed more than 100,000 companies.
