SMA Ibérica is a leading provider of system technology for photovoltaic applications with more than 4,000 employees in 20 countries. The company offers a comprehensive range of innovative solutions for all types of photovoltaic applications. Together with Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Spain, they have implemented a comprehensive project at the Rhenus warehouse in Alcalá de Henares. From the storage of a wide range of references and materials essential to SMA's operations to waste management, the project ensures an efficient service tailored to the specific needs of the renewable energy sector.

The challenge posed

SMA was looking for a partner with extensive experience and a differentiated value proposition in the renewable energy sector to provide a solution capable of managing its technical service and warranty management logistics. This includes receiving, locating and storing materials from the facilities in Niestetal (Germany), with a volume of 10,000 references; preparing orders for technicians and installers, as well as for end customers; managing transport and related processes, both outbound and inbound, ensuring compliance with the deadlines set for Spain and Portugal, including the islands and Andorra.

It also includes the management of the storage of collected equipment for shipment to the Niestetal headquarters for repair or destruction, in line with the significant importance both companies attach to the circular economy and its impact on sustainability and the environment.

  • Integration of the Blue Yonder Warehouse Management System (WMS) operated by Rhenus with SMA's SAP system as well as with the Transport Management System (TMS) via EDI standard, enabling seamless synchronisation and optimised management. This integration enables seamless coordination and communication across all logistics processes, ensuring accurate delivery times and efficiency at every stage.
