Rhenus Logistics is reinforcing its commitment to the Valencia region by making its platform in Ribarroja de Túria the first in Spain to install a photovoltaic system as part of its sustainability strategy. This project, which is an important step in reducing the group's carbon footprint in our country, underlines Rhenus' commitment to the environment and innovation in its operations.
With 180 solar modules of 545 Wp each and a total output of 98.10 kWp, this installation will generate 117,720 kWh of clean energy per year, avoiding the emission of approximately 35.32 tonnes of CO2 per year. This project underlines Rhenus' commitment to consolidating Valencia as a strategic logistics hub and moving towards a more sustainable operating model.
Valencia, starting point for Rhenus' photovoltaic investments in Spain
The Ribarroja de Túria platform, with an 18,534 square metre building on a 30,000 square metre site, is one of Rhenus' most important in Spain. Strategically located in the Poyo de Reva industrial estate, with direct access to the A-3 and A-7 motorways, it was chosen to start implementing photovoltaic systems, which will then be extended to other branches in the country.
'Valencia has proven to be key to our operational network and this project reaffirms our long-term commitment to Valencian society. We want to be a driver of sustainability and resilience in the region, providing responsible logistics solutions that benefit both our customers and the environment', says Andrés Ramos, manager of Rhenus Logistics Valencia.
This commitment to Valencia comes at a time of consolidation for Rhenus in the region. Following the rapid recovery of logistics activity after the DANA, the company is committed to making its Ribarroja platform a benchmark for sustainability and modernisation.
‘The work done by the entire team to restore normality is a clear sign of the vision we have for the future of the region. We are proud to continue investing in Valencia as a strategic pillar of our business in Spain’, says Andrés Ramos.
The photovoltaic system, which is part of the incentive programme linked to self-consumption and storage with renewable energy sources, is co-financed by the European Recovery and Resilience Mechanism PRTR-Next Generation EU, managed in Spain by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, through the IDAE and the Autonomous Communities, under Royal Decree 477/2021.
