A shipment of oversized industrial components for formaldehyde production, has reached Algeria in a specialized logistics operation. The equipment consisted of four iron column trunks with a total weight of 32.30 tons and a volume of 559.30 cubic meters. It was transported by truck from San Giorgio di Nogaro to Porto Nogaro before being loaded onto a chartered vessel bound for Mostaganem, Algeria.
The logistics process involved:
- Oversized equipment requiring meticulous handling due to its unique dimensions and weight.
- Multi-modal transport consisting of trucking service from San Giorgio di Nogaro to Porto Nogaro, followed by sea transport on a vessel arranged on a sub-inducement basis.
- A carefully coordinated timeline ensured seamless delivery to avoid inefficiencies, such as "empty for full" shipments.
The dedicated vessel, measuring 90x14 meters, was chartered specifically for this project, providing an ad hoc service tailored to the client’s needs.
Simone Riccobono, Managing Director of the Air & Ocean Division of Rhenus in Italy, commented: “This operation is a prime example of how specialized logistics can address complex challenges. Delivering this equipment safely and on time was critical for our client, and we are proud of the collaborative efforts that made it possible.”
The delivery highlights the increasing demand for specialized logistics solutions capable of handling non-standard industrial projects. Operations like this underline the evolving role of tailored logistics in supporting industrial growth in regions like North Africa.
