BREEAM certifies the new Rhenus business site in Prague as the most sustainable industrial building in the Czech Republic

Rhenus Czech Republic has now been operating a new warehouse in Prague for one year. BREEAM has now ranked the facility as the most sustainable industrial building in the country. The extremely modern site, built by the European developer CTP, beat off competition from 100’s other projects in the assessment institute’s ‘Industrial’ category. Rhenus is therefore setting new standards in terms of economic sustainability – and is also continuing to enhance its position as a leading provider of logistics solutions in Central and Eastern Europe.

The building, which measures 14,000 square metres, is located in CTPark Prague West, south of Prague Airport and Rhenus Czech Republic uses it as a transhipment point (cross-dock) and warehouse for its customers. The site in Prague has now been certified with the ‘BREEAM Outstanding’ seal. The site achieved 92.1 percent in the overall assessment based on its economic and ecological benefits: it has environmentally-friendly components such as LED lighting and energy-efficient heating and cooling systems and they supply the new structure with sustainable energy. A modern warehousing management system as well as state-of-the-art CCTV monitoring provide the maximum possible security and efficiency.

Thanks to having extended capacity at its warehouse, Rhenus has increased the efficiency of its daily business operations and can therefore support its constantly growing number of regular international customers in the automobile, chemical, construction and industrial goods sectors in the best possible way. Rhenus provides, for example, a broad range of logistics services at the site, including warehousing, transportation, customs clearance and other value-added services such as packaging and labelling. The facility was planned and built in close cooperation with CTP. As a pioneer in the industry, the firm places increased emphasis on ensuring its industrial buildings are built to the highest sustainability standards.

The warehouse in Prague serves as the Rhenus groupage freight hub for transporting goods. “We’re creating more efficient and faster loading and unloading times through the cross-docking area, which measures 6,500 square metres, and through 24/7 loading operations using stand-by trailers,” says Markus Menzel, the Managing Director of Rhenus Czech Republic. The site is strategically located on the edge of the Czech capital. The facility has easy access to the most important transport routes in the region, including the D1 motorway and the Prague ring road. The international logistics specialist operates services to delivery destinations in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Germany from there every day. Rhenus also operates regular departures to Italy, Spain, France, Great Britain and the Baltic States from its business site in Prague.
