DKI has been an established logistics player in the Danish market since 2001, specialising in complete warehousing and supply chain solutions with customised value-added services and over 280,000 square meters of warehousing capacity, serving industries such as healthcare, FMCG, furniture, clothing and household appliances. With the acquisition, Rhenus Warehousing Solutions has been able to expand its presence in Europe into the Nordics, while at the same time providing customers that are active in the region with access to an entire portfolio of services. This includes warehousing with a high degree of automation in picking, packing and sorting in the 12 DKI sites as well as freight distribution solutions via air, ocean and road.
A shared vision of people-first logistics
Since the acquisition, DKI has strengthened the cooperation and exchange of expertise between the Warehousing and Air & Ocean teams who now share the same office space. René Møller Klausen, CEO of DKI logistics, comments: “Our rebranding to Rhenus Warehousing Solutions essentially reflects a switch from one family business to another and allows us to stick to our ideals: We will continue to be competitive with bigger players in the region by relying on our USP of bringing human connection to logistics. Our solution portfolio has expanded, but we will continue to be approachable on a human and individual level. Customers have always been and will always be a huge part of our journey and we intend to continue to ensure they can talk to actual people, not a system.”
A one-stop-shop for scalable solutions
To accommodate for continuous growth, the Danish logistics specialist has constantly invested in automated technologies such as automated guided vehicles (AGV), robots, conveyor belts and shuttle systems. In particular, a new sorter and expanded shuttle services for medical customers bring a pre-established advantage for Rhenus Warehousing Solutions in the FMCG and healthcare sectors. Dr. Stephan Peters, Member of the Management Board of the Rhenus Group, states: “With locations across Denmark, we guarantee a reliable service in close proximity to our customers. Expanding our footprint in the Nordics via DKI was a win-win since it allows for even more flexibility for a growing customer base while adhering to our people-driven vision for logistics. DKI may be changing in name, but their values will remain as part of the larger Rhenus Group global growth journey, and we are happy they have become a part of the Rhenus family.”
