The European Company (also: Societas Europaea – SE) is a legal form for companies in the EU which greatly facilitates cross-border cooperation. This corporate form is particularly suitable for companies operating in several Member States of the European Union. Some 2,100 SEs have been established since the introduction of the European Company at the end of 2004.
"The Rhenus Group now operates at more than 350 locations worldwide. Our aim is to expand our international reach further in the coming years. As such, replacing our corporate general partner with a European Company is both logical and appropriate," said the CEO of the Rhenus Group, Klemens Rethmann, commenting on the decision. With the agreement of the Supervisory Board, "Rhenus Verwaltungs AG" will be replaced by "Rhenus Verwaltungs SE", with the change expected to take effect in April 2014. As a consequence, the Group's parent company will then trade as "Rhenus SE & Co. KG". The Group's international expansion will be clearly reflected in its new name.
