Economy

A 2022 report by Savills India predicts significant growth in the Indian life sciences market thanks to the current geopolitical environment and regulatory regime, India’s large skilled workforce, cost efficiencies in terms of lower manpower and rental costs, as well as the growing attractiveness for venture capital funding companies. The size and youth of India’s population mean it generates 20 times as many pharmacy graduates as the US. Existing life sciences clusters in India include Ahmedabad/Gujurat, Mumbai/Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad/Andhra Pradesh, Kolkata, Chennai and Delhi NCR.

Ports

India is surrounded by water on three sides and is flanked by the Bay of Bengal to the East, the Arabian Sea to the West and the Indian Ocean to the South. There are 13 primary ports in India.

Road

Road transport has emerged as the dominant segment in India’s transportation sector, accounting for about 87 percent of passenger traffic and 60 percent of freight traffic movement in the country.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) manages a total of 137 airports, which includes 103 domestic airports, 24 international airports and ten customs airports.

Rhenus India operates more than 31 strategically located warehouses, covering more than 240,000 square metres of storage space nationwide, making it one of the nation’s largest warehouse service providers. With an expert team of 200 customs professionals strategically located at key locations across the country, import clearances, export clearances, value-added services and consultancy services are all readily available for existing and growth sectors such as life sciences & healthcare.  As an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certified customs broker, it is registered at all key customs stations across India. Real-time visibility is available through is IT infrastructure and EDI connectivity, providing system-generated daily status reports and real-time scripts, bonds and advance licence utilisation reports.
