What is a Gateway?

A Gateway is a non-profit-oriented service center that functionally reports to Product Management. Secondly, a gateway coordinates export and import volumes from different origins to different destinations. It is a consolidation point for export and deconsolidation point for import shipments in a country or region. Lastly, a gateway supports Product Management with product development, and it has the authority and responsibility to define which carrier to book in line with the procurement strategy.

In addition, we operate direct consolidation services based on local volumes without involving a Gateway.

Benefits of a Gateway

Consolidations: we can consolidate cargo in MIA from other offices in the US and even in-transit cargo from Europe or Asia. This helps give us more buying power in the market and allows for better negotiation with the airline.
Allocations: a key part to provide great service is space that is reserved for us each week with different carriers to multiple destinations. Having this space helps guarantee the uplift.
Rates Process: by having a gateway, we can generate more competitive rates by negotiating with airlines based on density or volume handled. We can then provide NET Gateway rates to help secure new business.
Net Down Process: you can mix dense and volume cargo under the same console to help provide cost savings for the company, while at the same time increasing your overall GP.
ULD build-up Process: the warehouse in MIA is CCSF which allows us to screen cargo under TSA regulations and compliance. We have the ability to build our own ULDs and send them as BUP to the airline already screened. This allows us the ability to tender cargo later to the airline and provides added security by leaving the cargo intact until it is received and broken down at the destination.
Location to Airport: our proximity to the airport allows us to act quickly and resolve any issues with the airline. This helps us be competitive and can fix issues without missing or delaying the cargo from flying.
