Waterways connect various markets in Europe. Furthermore, inland waterway vessels represent a cost-effective and climate-friendly mode of transport. With close to 1,000 ship units and capacities of up to 10,000 tonnes per unit, Rhenus transports goods with a large variety.
In Europe, we deploy our ships for you on all navigable waterways. Each year, we transport up to 30 million tonnes of bulk goods from all relevant goods groups. The cargo includes steel products, containers and installations. As of now, we have an extensive network of branches along the most important waterways and hubs at our disposal. Furthermore, our bunker and bilge oil boats work the European inland waterways.
Rhenus Vietnam started the launch of our logistics services on the Rhine Lake, providing port logistics include designing, managing and operating international supply chains. Inland waterway ports serve as vital interfaces for regional and global flows of commodities in terms of transhipment, storage, and onward transportation – whether this involves raw materials or finished goods, containers, or bulk goods. Overseas, we can handle your products travelling on the water using our facilities, particularly our port terminals, and include our partners worldwide. We can also organize the necessary collection and final delivery that runs beyond the quayside.
Rhenus Vietnam and its inland waterway vessels support many by transporting a range of starting materials, and raw materials include agricultural products, building materials, aggregates, energy sources, ores, etc.
We handle the transport of the most diversified types of general cargo for our customers. For example, we transport products from the steel industry, large and heavy construction parts and all break bulk cargo.
GMP+ certification has established itself as a high standard for the transportation of agricultural products. Our inland waterway fleet is equipped with the necessary certificates, making us a reliable logistics partner for the agriculture industry across global borders.
We take charge of the transportation of waste demands in compliance with all legal requirements. The Rhenus fleet of inland waterway vessels has ships that meet all the necessary European requirements to transport waste and other hazardous materials. These include materials such as waste wood, glass, contaminated soil and industrial slag in various volumes.
A significant number of our bilge oil boats collect oil and greasy ship operating waste. Waste includes empty oil containers and oily cleaning rags from inland waterway vessels. Their primary task is the collection and professional disposal of bilge oil. Our ships can treat the bilge water while still transporting on the waterway. The separated waste oil is collected in our systems and fed into the economic cycle in processed form. We also supply goods and passenger shipping on all European waterways with marine diesel, lubricants, drinking water and other required products.
